Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Rachel Little is State Champion, Barracuda Teams Make Splash at NCISAA Championships


Led by sophomore Rachel Little,who became the first UCHS athlete ever to earn an individual state title, the Lady Barracudas finished in fourth place and the boys in 15th place at the NCISAA Division III Swimming Championships.  The meet was held Monday, February 11 at the Greensboro Aquatics Center.  Little claimed the only Barracuda gold medal with a come from behind win in the 200 IM, winning by .1.  The UCHS girls also garnered three silver and three bronze medals.

Silver:

2oo Freestyle (Edwards)

100 Breaststroke (Little)

400 Freestyle Relay (Little, Kelty, Edwards, Reagan Priola)

Bronze:

200 Medley Relay (Emma Edwards, Sam Swisher, Sarah Kelty, Little)

100 Butterfly (Kelty)

100 Breaststroke (Edwards)

Senior Tommy Little made it a family affair bringing home two medals and leading the scoring for the UCHS boys finishing second in the 200 Freestyle and third in the 500 Freestyle.  Congratulations to all the state qualifiers and to coach Meaghan Texer who started the UCHS program three years ago with one girl and two boys swimmers.
