During the 2018 track and field season Amanda Perry had a great start to the season in the shot put. Throwing a toss of 30′ 4″ she claimed the Catawba County Championship and was the top ranked thrower in the SPAA conference. A shoulder injury caused an early end to her season and left her with resolve for the 2019 season. This spring, splitting time between track and soccer Amanda has steadily improved but had not thrown over 29 feet; until this Saturday.
Qualifying as the 7th ranked thrower in the 1A/2A ranks Amanda equaled her personal best of 30′-4″ earning her third place and a bronze medal! Amanda joins Trinity Morrow as the only UCHS girl to earn a medal at the state championship. Congratulations on an excellent finish to the season and for representing UCHS Barracuda pride.
