The 2019 fall sports season kicks off in full force on Tuesday, August 13 at UCHS plays host to Gaston Day School in girls tennis, boys soccer and volleyball. Girls tennis will play at 3:30 at Catawba Country Club. Soccer will kick off at 5pm at the St. Stephens Lutheran School field and volleyball tips at 6 pm in the St. Stephens Lutheran School gym.
Gaston Day, while non-conference, is a 2A affiliate member of the NCISAA and will provide tough tests for the Barracudas as the new season begins. Girls tennis is under the direction of Jason Burgess for the 4th consecutive season. During that time the Lady Barracudas have been in the final four of their respective NCISAA class the past three years and were NCISAA 1A runners-up in 2017. Volleyball, under the guidance of second year coach Lacy Goodson has made the state playoffs the past three seasons and made in=t to the NCISAA 2A Elite Eight last year. Boys soccer, under new coach Cody Miller, has a much improved roster and are coming off three straight NCISAA post season berths.
