On Friday, October 18 University Christian’s girls tennis team defeated Fayetteville Academy 5-0 to advance to the final four teams of the NCISAA 2A state playoffs. This marks the fourth consecutive year that UCHS has advanced to a least this point in the playoffs. In 2017 the girls made the state finals, losing the NCISAA 1A championship to Wayne Country Day School.
By virtue of their victory UCHS, the #3 seed in the tournament, will travel to Raleigh on Tuesday, October 22 to play Trinity Academy, the #2 seed, who defeated Faith Christian to move into the final four. On the other side of the bracket Trinity School of Durham and Chapel Hill, the #1 seed will host defending 2A state champ Rocky Mount Academy, the #5 seed who defeated Davidson Day School, #4 in a mild upset.
With the forecast for Tuesday rain times and site for the match at Trinity Academy are still to be announced.
