Pursuant to an edict from Homar Ramirez, the executive director of the North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association (NCISAA), all spring athletic contests are canceled indefinitely, effective March 13, 2020.  Following the NCISAA decision,  Foothills Athletic Conference (FAC) athletic directors met and determined that member schools will cancel practices and reassess the status of athletics across the NCISAA on a weekly basis.  Davidson Day School is suspending face to face instruction for 30 days starting on March 13, effectively making conference competition unlikely until April 13, which is Easter Monday.

The most likely scenario is that spring sports will not resume until the week after after Easter, at the earliest.  All UCHS athletes will not practice as a team until further notice.  Athletes are encouraged to train and work out on their own but not under the supervision of a UCHS coach until further notified.

Although this is not an outcome we like,  the administration at the state, conference and school level will endeavor to keep the health and safety of our schools and communities foremost in our decision making process.
