Barracudas News · Spring Sport Senior Athlete Focus: Gracie Myers

Gracie Myers is a senior member of the Lady Barracudas track and field team.  She is the daughter of Gina and Andy Myers.  In addition to track and field Gracie was a four year letter winner on the powerhouse UCHS girls tennis team.  During her time as a tennis player Gracie earned the Coach’s Award her sophomore year, All-Conference her junior and senior seasons and was selected NCISAA 2A All State this past fall.

In track and field Gracie has been a standout member three seasons for the Lady Barracudas.  She owns the #2 marks in school history in the long jump and 100 meter dash as well as the #4 time in the 200 meter dash.  She was also a member of the school record 800 meter relay team in 2017 and was a state qualifier in the long jump her freshman and sophomore seasons.

In addition to her athletic exploits Gracie is an exceptional student.  She is a member of the UCHS chapter of the National Honor Society, of which she is vice president.  She is also very active in a leadership role in the Music Club at the school.

Gracie will enroll at the University of North Carolina in the fall where she plans to pursue a career in computer science.

Her lasting memory from her time on the UCHS track team is, “Eating Chick Fil A as one big dysfunctional family after every track meet”.  And her message to her teammates is, ” I’m sorry we didn’t get to have more fun times together. I will greatly miss this big family we have. You all are amazing athletes and even better people with incredible futures ahead of you. Stay strong and don’t stop running until you’ve passed the finish line”.

Gracie has been an outstanding student, athlete and citizen during her time at University Christian High School.  She has left a legacy of excellence in all her endeavors that has served to make our school a better place.  We wish the best that life has to offer and all of God’s blessings on Gracie as she leaves us for Chapel Hill.
