Davis Chamberlain is a senior member of the vaunted University Christian High School golf program. Davis is the son of Michael and Brooke Chamberlain. In addition to golf Davis has also been a member of the UCHS boys swim team which won three consecutive conference championships and finished 4th place this year at the NCISAA Division III State Championship meet in Greensboro. Davis was also a member of the varsity basketball program for the past two seasons and gained notoriety this season for knocking down three pointers in clutch situations. Most notably this season on homecoming against Woodlawn, on Senior Night at home against HCA and the regular season finale at HCA in which he came off the bench and scored eight points and sending the game into overtime, prompting several people to refer to him as “Big Shot”. At season’s end he was honored by the Foothills Athletic Conference as a Conference Character Award winner in boys basketball due to his integrity and good sportsmanship.
In golf Davis was a member of two consecutive NCISAA 1A State Championship teams in 2017 and 2018. He was recognized by the SPAA conference as a Christian Character Award winner for golf in 2017. Davis was also selected All-Conference in golf during his junior season as he helped guide the UCHS golfers to their sixth consecutive SPAA Conference Championship.
Off the golf course, the pool and the court Davis is an exceptional student leader at UCHS excelling in academics and servant leadership. He was a 2019 Jr. Marshal and a member of the National Honor Society. Davis was active in the Multicultural Club and serving as a UCHS Student Ambassador. Davis competed on teams in the Envirothon in 2018 and 2019 winning regional championships in his discipline and advancing to the state championship each year.
Davis will enter North Carolina State University in the fall, where he was a Park Scholarship nominee, to pursue an degree in aerospace engineering.
Davis’ favorite memory from golf was being a part of two consecutive state golf championship teams his freshman and sophomore years. Those two championships, the second and third state championships consecutively for UCHS , also saw Davis team with his brother Drew.
His message to his teammates is succinct but profound, “Never stop trying, success is yours if you want it”.
Davis Chamberlain has left a legacy of success in many areas of endeavor at University Christian. His upbeat attitude, sense of humor and incredible knowledge of trivia, especially in sports will be missed. Davis Chamberlain has left UCHS better than he found it and for that we thank him and wish him God’s favor in all he does.
