On Monday, July 20, 2020 NCISAA athletic directors were in a Zoom meeting with NCISAA Executive Director Homar Ramirez and received instructions on the state association’s plan for return to play for fall sports.
July 27-August 9 schools may conduct voluntary workout sessions in cross country, girls tennis, volleyball and boys soccer following the summer guidelines released in June. During this period only fall sports may conduct workouts. It is “Dead Period” for winter and spring sports.
August 10 schools may begin full scale fall practices, provided the state has moved into Phase III as indicated by NC governor’s order.
August 24 schools may begin scrimmages, provided the state has moved into Phase III as indicated by NC governor’s order.
August 31 schools may begin competition, provided the state has moved into Phase III as indicated by NC governor’s order.
Each of these periods will be accompanied by guidelines and practices that schools, athletic directors and individual coaches must follow relative to best practices for maintaining the safety of student athletes and all others involved.
To be consistent all UCHS sports will begin designated voluntary workouts on Monday, August 3. Individual times and sites for workouts will be released by July 24. Provided the state has moved into Phase III official practices/tryouts will begin on August 10.
